Genometri, the makers of GenoPal, are rolling out a new Pro edition soon, and guess what?
They're stumped for a logo design! See below for what they're currently using: it's just a logotype and not a logo. A logo features a graphic while a logotype is a fancy treament of a font, like Microsoft uses. I think we all can top this, so...
Genometri is running
The GenoPal Logo and Icon Design Contest ...and we are all invited, registered users or not. Here's a big-time opportunity to design an untypically ugly, programmer-spawned piece of art, thus serving the user community, while getting your name on a commercial software splash screen, an advance registered copy of the product, and good vibes that should last for at least 18 months!
If you're not familiar with GenoPal, it creates color palettes you can use in Photoshop and other apps that recognize the ACO file format. But it's not just a run-of-the-mill "color picker. GenoPal was engineered to create color harmonies based on human perception, not empirical math (ex. the color opposite of blue is yellow, and so on). GenoPal palettes are very useful for package design, and the color palettes have a soothing, natural appearance, not this screaming magenta nonsense you see on My First Web Page sites, you know? The color relationships in a GenoPal-generated palette stimulate audience intrigue, I've found—the colors might be called "sophisticated".
The competition closes in July, so bop on over there with a terrific logo and icon design!
My Best,
Gare
