Cengage published a book I wrote in May 2008 that I wanted to be an “entry point” for anyone who wants to get into video editing. I’ve been a Photoshop user since 3000 B.C., written almost a dozen books covering the various releases, but this book is truly different from a number or respects. First of all, I allowed myself to presume that the reader knows what an image Layer is and how to use Quick Mask and all that jazz. Once you get beyond the basics, video editing is amazingly fun and the results are 100% professional, exactly what you see on standard def television.
If you own Photoshop Extended (the $900 one, not the $600 one) and would care to pick up a book that thoroughly explains the ins and outs of the Animation timeline palette, through example files and steps that actually explain why video pixels aren’t square and why frame rates are 29.97 per second—I’m here to answer questions, offer advice, and to learn from other members, just like you.
Video is a really good way to fill a hard drive, and there’s also nothing like it when it comes to communicating visually. I’ll show you how to take your existing Photoshop retouching skills and apply them to pictures that move through space and time.
