CorelDRAW X4: The Official Guide

Support, Information and Discussion for the Book

CorelDRAW X4: The Official Guide

Postby Gare on Sun Aug 03, 2008 8:20 am

On August 19th, 2008, McGraw-Hill is publishing the official guide (and actually the only one :)) to CorelDRAW X4. I began my digital graphics career with version 2, so this is a home-coming of sorts.

The book isn't just the owner's manual, however—I tried very hard to meet the needs of the small to medium business owner who has become the Accidental House Artist: you need a brochure, you need a logo, you need your work to look more polished than the competition's. So as a departure from the book's format, I wrote a number of tutorials, ranging from using the Extrude feature to build 3D logos, to working with camera RAW images. The tutorials integrate into a feature's function, and this book is 300 pages longer than the previous version at the same price.

Look around our site for free CorelDRAw-Based Things (CBT), the free online sample chapter, and right here is the place for book and application support.

You can order the book right here:

Gary,
I recently purchased your book, along with CorelDRAW X4, and the book is fabulous!  I'm working my way through, learning techniques as I go.

I will have some extended airplane time coming up, and would like to continue learning, but the book is HEAVY.  I understand the need to protect copyright, etc.  Is there some way, however, to get an electronic copy of the book I've purchased, so it can be on my laptop with me?

  Thanks in advance.  :)

Hi Barbara—

In a word: no. Not for your laptop.

Second-best is it's available as an Amazon Kindle eBook:

CorelDraw X4 Official Guide-$29

...but frankly? You don't get a discount because you bought the paperback, you'd need to buy a Kindle hardware player ($359), and airplane flights aren't the thrill they used to be, reading one of my 16 pound books notwithstanding.

I'm delighted you like it, though, and that you took the time to drop a line. If you have any questions, inside or outside of the book, please post them in this CorelDRAW area, and check out the free stuff we offer for members, a lot of it geared for Corellians.

Free fonts, models, backgrounds, you name it

My Best,

Gare
