Questions, answers, tips and techniques for Creature House Expression and Microsoft Expression Design
by Gare on Thu Oct 09, 2008 10:01 am
Sorry; the subject line is a little lame! We've been asked to open a board to cover Creature House Expression, as well as Microsoft's version of it—Expression Design. If you don't own it, but would like to, and have a broadband connection (it's about 50MB to download): Creature House 3.3 Public PreviewSo now: where to begin? If anyone would like to jump in with a question, basic or intermediate, I'll try to provide help or an answer ASAP. Here's a little jump-start gift: unpack the zip file here and then put it in your application data folder for Expression, in the stokes folder. This is what the stroke looks like when colorized and ribbon mode is applied from the panel. My Best, Gare

Thanks for adding Expression to the board, Gare! I've had my dad's 89th birthday to tend to and some other things the past couple of days, but plan to get back to exploring Expression very soon and posting things regarding it. Thanks also for the link to the Nagle brushes, I used to have some of those a long time ago when PS was PS7 -- they were great, I will download those soon too.

I'll be adding more info and media as I get time, but understand these brushes aren't the Dave Nagel Photoshop brushes.
He designed them for Expression, and they look and work differently.

Hey, Gare, I noticed that the downloads for the Nagle Expression brushes are all Mac .sit files. Unfortunately, I can't extract and use those with Windoze. Do you know of any Win-friendly ones somewhere? If not, then maybe some info on creating my own brushes to use in Expressions??

Hi Maya— I'm not even sure I have the right to re-post Nagel's Expressions brushes, but the good news is that they're only archived in a StuffIt file, the contents—the strokes themselves— are cross-platform. So go to SmithMicro...and download the free StuffIt Expander for Windows. Then go get Mr. Nagel's strokes at Nagel Expression brushesThe Series 2 is quite funny; several variations on link chains. -g-

Hi Ian, and thanks for the links.
I just clicked the orange text in my first post, and although you have to sign up with MSN, version 3.3 is indeed up there, has been for several years.
Mind you, it's not MS Expression Design v4, but me, I like the older version better.
That and 12-year scotch,
Gare
