If you're a Windows user and want to check out Apple Aperture, basically you have two choices:
1. Buy a Mac.
2.
Download the free public beta of Adobe Lightroom, which essentially
is Aperture.
If you think Adobe Bridge sucks, Lightroom is the cure--it's a terrific cataloger. But its primary use is intended for pro photographers who need to view RAW images, perform some basic histogram stuff, color temperature compensation, and overall, it's really good for sorting a day's photography.
My Best,
